Abrasive Blasting

MAJESTIC COATINGS has several purpose built blasting facilities ranging from a 12m blast room for those larger items, to a 3m blasting chamber down to a 1200mm blast cabinet used solely for firearms. In most cases, the Garnet is recycled just a few times before its replaced, this ensures your item gets optimum surface cleaning.

What is Abrasive Blasting?

This is the process by which the surface of your item is removed by using small particles of garnet. The garnet is fed through a hose at very high pressure directly onto your substrate. This results in a clean, uncontaminated surface which allows the pre-treatment stages to commence prior to the application of the chosen coating. In some cases, your item may have to be cured at high temperature before and/or after being blasted to bring any oil, grease or other nasty ground in contaminates to the surface.

Abrasive blasting cleans the surface finish and creates a dimpled rough surface finish which allows for maximum adhesion of your coatings. The surface is free of contaminants so that pre-treatment can take place, before the application of the final surface finish.

The alternative to blasting is to remove the existing surface finish by using chemicals. Where possible, Majestic Coatings Australia avoids the use of chemicals due to the potential harmful effects to the user and environment.

We conduct regular checks on the garnet for salt, grease, chlorine and other contaminants that may effect the life span of your coating.

This ensures your item gets optimum surface cleansing and in turn, allows for maximum adhesion of what ever coating is to be applied to your item. The powerful extraction system collects unwanted dust particles for operator safety and avoids unnecessary pollution drifting into the atmosphere
